This is the way to bankruptcy.

Star Wars: The Mandalorian & Grogu is racing towards its May 22, 2026 release date in theaters, so what better way to build up some hype than to launch a $599 toy of one of the main characters? No, we didn't misplace a decimal point, dear readers, that is the honest to God price of Hasbro's new Ultimate Grogu animatronic. Billed as being the "first-of-its-kind" and "hyper realistic," this 1:1 animatronic is purported to being as close as it gets to actually having Grogu in your home.
There are two versions of the doll available: First Edition and Standard Edition. The First Edition will come to early adopters before the end of 2026 and boasts unique packaging and a collector's card that are unique to this iteration of Ultimate Grogu. The Standard Edition is the exact same toy but without the special packing or card. They both cost $599, it's merely a matter of trying to get the First Edition before supplies run out.
And, as of this writing, run out they did: pre-orders for the First Edition Ultimate Grogu are sold out, while the Standard Edition are still available. But what do you get for your 600 bucks, you might be wondering? Well, Hasbro has spoken at length about how they worked with Jon Favreu and the production team itself for Mandalorian and Grogu to get the animatronic just right. The doll is motion and sound sensitive, able to recognize different movements and touches to initiate specific functions. Here's a rundown from Hasbro:
250+ lifelike animations include expressive head movement, toddling steps & more
Life-size Grogu animatronic with screen-accurate design is 14.6 inches tall (37 cm)
Advanced reaction technology enables Grogu to respond to his environment
One example of the doll's crazy functionality is the cookie accessory it comes with. Ultimate Grogu can sense when it's near, will actively use the Force (re: magnets) to draw it towards him, and will even pretend to munch on it if you put it near his mouth. It's all rather impressive stuff, but whether or not it's $600 worth of impressive is, well, in the eye of the beholder. Will you be picking one of these up? Why not let us know on social media if Ultimate Grogu will be becoming a member of your houselhold!
