A revival 20 years in the making.
Argonaut Games is a studio that helped shape the growth of the video game industry. Founded in 1982 by a teenager named Jez San, the outfit would quickly go on to be early pioneers of polygons and 3D in video games, starting with titles like Star Glider and Birds of Prey. Eventually, Argonaut caught the eye of Nintendo, which brought the developer on to help with the creation of its Super FX chips and games like the original Star Fox on SNES. Sadly, the company disappeared in 2004, but after 20 years it's back—and bringing Croc along for the ride.
Croc Legend of the Gobbos was a 1997 platformer that Argonaut developed for PlayStation and SEGA Saturn. Beloved for its punchy visuals and fun gameplay, Argonaut has opted to remaster the title for current consoles and PC. According to San, who is back and leading the company he started so many years ago, Argonaut aims to once more push the boundaries of video games are capable of. Croc will launch this fall. Best of luck to Argonaut—we can't wait to see what new ideas the developer brings to the industry.
