A legendary remake, it seems.

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time will be reborn tonight at midnight (or earlier, depending on which state you're living in) on Nintendo Switch 2. Review scores from all of the usual suspects are starting to pour in, and so far it's a lot of glowing praise. So much that Ocarina of Time is starting to look like, according to the aggregate site Metacritic, it will be the highest-rated game of the year... for now. It currently sits at an average score of 96.

The caveat being that Grand Theft Auto VI is also very close to launch, with it's 11.19.26 release date only a couple of weeks away. The hype around that game is even bigger than that for Ocarina of Time, with fans and critics alike having waited years for this latest installment to drop. It's possible that GTA VI might get an even better aggregated score than Ocarina. We'll let you know if anything changes, but for now, Ocarina of Time is king in 2026.
