God of War Laufey Delayed to May

"We don't take for granted the trust placed in our studio."

God of War Laufey made waves when it was announced back in June. The next mainline entry in the series, Laufey stars not Kratos, but instead his deceased wife in an adventure through the Everywhen to protect both Kratos and their son. It was an odd descision to shift focus away from Kratos to Laufey/Faye, but Sony Santa Monica has a lot of confidence in the game... but isn't quite ready to hit that promised February 16, 2027 release date.

Via the company's official X account, Sony Santa Monica made the announcement that God of War Laufey is going to be slightly delayed:

Sony Santa Monica says that it "[doesn't] take for granted the trust placed in [the] studio," but that the delay was necessary in order to "[put] in the finishing touches and [push] the game to its fullest potential."
