The rumors of Slott coming to DC were indeed true.

The rumors were true: Dan Slott is officially sliding over to DC to work on the Man of Steel.

Starting this May, Superman Unlimited will be coming to a comic book shop near you. Written by Dan Slott and illustrated by Rafael Albuquerque, Superman Unlimited #1 will release on May 21, 2025. This will mark Slott's first ongoing series for DC Comics.

So, what's Superman Unlimited all about? Well, according to the solicit, a huge haul of kryptonite has landed on earth, kicking off an arms race among various DC personalities as they scramble to get their hands on the scarce substance. As Intergang outfits itself with kryptonite bullets under new management, Superman will have to embrace new tech, new allies, and a new approach. Meanwhile, Lois has taken over (permanently?) as the editor-in-chief of the Daily Planet, which is now a multimedia company with a cable news component, offices all over the country, and much more.

Sadly, DC seems to be sticking with the bogus "truth, justice and a better tomorrow" tagline for Superman, but otherwise it sounds like the publisher is doing what it can to give Superman a big push to coincide with James Gunn's upcoming movie relaunch. For those interested in getting an early look at Slott's new take, DC All In 2025 FCBD Special Edition #1 will come to comic book shops on Free Comic Book Day, which is Saturday, May 3, 2025. This "Zero Issue" will provide 10 pages setting up the new series.

Now, however, the question becomes whether or not fans will gravitate to the controversial writer's take on Superman. Slott has done himself no favors attacking fans on social media and decrying, seemingly indiscriminately, many of them for perceived political differences. Will Slott's past behavior finally come back to haunt him? We'll all find out together this May when Superman Unlimited finally drops.
