Wonder Woman Revamping With Rotating Creative Teams in 2027

Louise Simonson is first up with a four-issue arc for the "Year of Wonder."

Fans still have to suffer through a couple more issues of Tom King's abortive Wonder Woman run before, thankfully, it comes to an end in December. Then, in January, things will hopefully start to turn around for Diana and her fellow Amazons when Louise Simonson comes on as the first of a rotating team of creators to write the revamped Wonder Woman in January 2027. Dubbed the Year of Wonder, DC says it's "an unforgettable year of stories from celebrated comic book creators."
The first duo of creators will be legendary writer Louise Simons joined by artist Cian Tormey starting with issue #41 on January 20, 2027. This will be the first time that Simonson has ever written Wonder Woman, which has the 80-year-old creator thrilled. "I haven’t written many books with female leads, and they don’t come any more iconic than Diana,” said Simonson. “Teaming her up with Lois Lane, another iconic character, is a dream come true. Throw in Granny Goodness and her Female Furies? It doesn’t get more fun than that." Simons describes the assignment as both "intimidating and exciting."
Following Simonson's stint is Stephanie Williams and Elena Casagrande for a six-issue arc. DC's perhaps not quite living up to that "celebrated" part of the Year of Wonder mission statement with Williams at the helm, and the publisher hasn't revealed who is coming after her. Still, moving past King is a step in the right direction; hopefully Williams is followed up by someone who will get fans excited for the series again, but time will tell.
