The controversial author hasn't written for DC in many years.
Rumor has it that the so-called "Slotto Blocktavius," more commonly known as Dan Slott, is on the move. After years of exclusivity at Marvel Comics, Slott is allegedly making his way over to DC Comics. HIs assignment? The Man of Steel himself. What's unclear at this point is which series Slott will be taking over—Superman or Action Comics, or even another series besides. At this point, odds are that it will be Action Comics as part of DC's Superman Superstars publishing initiative, but it's really anyone's guess.
Slott has certainly had some success over the years, in particular his long run on Amazing Spider-Man where he introduced concepts like Superior Spider-Man, the Spider-Verse, and more, but his run was also polarizing. This was in no small part due to the writer's aggressive interactions on social media with fans. While some fans were certainly inappropriate, Slott himself has been known for conduct not befitting a professional in the industry, including allegations of bullying YouTubers, blocking customers without provocation, and more.
What makes this move even more curious is the timing, as Slott hasn't exactly been the hot commodity he once was after failed runs on Fantastic Four and Iron Man, and a lukewarm reception to recent efforts like the Spider-Boy ongoing. Some have pointed out the similarities to Brian Michael Bendis's abortive transition to DC following a similar career trajectory. That said, anything is possible, and maybe the change of scenery will jumpstart Slott's creativity.
DC has yet to make this news official, but once we hear more, you'll be the first to know.
