There will be a fairness hearing in October before anything is made final.

Sony is likely to pay $7.8 million to customers via refunds if a proposed settlement goes through. The litigation stems from antitrust accusations that assert Sony selling game-specific vouchers on the PlayStation store is "designed to monopolize the PS digital game market." The settlement had been approved back in 2024, but following a series of rejections, nothing came of it. Now, a judge has approved the settlement and gotten the ball rolling once more on getting these refunds to consumers.

There will be a fairness hearing held on October 15, 2026. If everything goes through, consumers in the US who purchased game-specific vouchers between April 1, 2019 and December 31, 2023 may be eligible for recompense. Some of the games that are part of the lawsuit include The Last of Us, Destiny 2, and Resident Evil 4. It's a rather large assemblage of games, so click here if you'd like to see the full lineup.
We'll be sure to update you all after the results of the 10.15 hearing.
