Preview: The Undead Iron Fist #1

In case you missed it, in... celebration...? of Danny Rand's 50th anniversary in comics, Marvel Comics, uh... killed him.

Iron Fist 50th Anniversary Special #1 launched in 2024 and left most fans with a sour taste in their mouths. If that move wasn't enough of a head-scratcher, Marvel compounded the confusion by resurrecting the character almost immediately at the end of the issue. Except the resurrection was only viewable via QR code, the much-maligned gimmick that quickly disappeared following fan outrage, so hardly anyone who read the book even knew that happened. Well, in case you were worried that Danny's death might be the first permanent one in comic books, take heart—the true Iron Fist is back. Kind of. Meet the Undead Iron Fist, which is exactly what it sounds like.

The Undead Iron Fist is being written by Jason Loo and illustrated by Fran Galan, with a cover by Whilce Portacio. It'll hit comic book shops on September 10, 2025, so be sure to get in a pre-order at your local shop if you're interested.
