NYCC '26: Timothy Zahn Writing a Deep Space Nine OGN

The mystery graphic novel is being illustrated by Ángel Hernández.

IDW continues to roll along with the Star Trek license, but this is arguably the first time in who knows how long that any publisher has announced a Star Trek project that might get fans to perk up and feel excited. Timothy Zahn, most notable for his work creating Grand Admiral Thrawn over in the Star Wars universe, is taking a swing at Star Trek next year. Star Trek: Roc's Egg was announced at New York Comic Con and is being billed as a mystery graphic novel set in the world of Deep Space Nine.
Here's a synopsis of the story:
When a mysterious artifact known as a Roc’s Egg arrives on the station—and is seemingly destroyed in transit—a Federation JAG investigation is called in to uncover what really happened. But the deeper the team digs, the stranger the mystery becomes: a secret auction, a station full of wealthy collectors and dangerous criminals, a priceless artifact that may not be what it seems, and a murder waiting to happen.
And here's what Zahn had to say about working on the project:
My association with Star Trek goes all the way back to 1966 and the original TV series. Now, after sixty years, I’ve been given the chance to add my own small grace note to that rich and vibrant symphony. This is a huge honor and privilege, and one which I will always cherish.
Joining Zahn is artist Ángel Hernández, who has worked on a number of Star Trek stories for IDW in the past. The project is slated to release in October of 2027.
