Halo TV Series Canceled By Paramount

The Paramount+ series lasted two seasons despite many fans disliking it.

Master Chief, we hardly knew ye. Well, fans know him, but it often felt like the showrunners of Paramount's Halo TV series didn't. The divisive program stirred up a lot of resentment from viewers as it played fast and loose with series lore, in particular liberally sprinkling in shots of John-117 sans helmet.

Master Chief rarely takes off his helmet, so in turn fans rarely, if ever, tuned into Halo. The result: cancellation after running for two seasons on the Paramount+ streaming service. Here is a statement from Paramount:

Paramount+ can confirm that ‘Halo’ will not move forward with a third season on the service. We are extremely proud of this ambitious series and would like to thank our partners at Xbox, 343 Industries and Amblin Television, along with showrunner and executive producer David Wiener, his fellow executive producers, the entire cast led by Pablo Schreiber as Master Chief and the amazing crew for all their outstanding work. We wish everyone the best going forward.

It appears that there might be a glimmer of hope for the show, as Variety alleges that Xbox, Amblin TV, and 343 Industries are trying to get Halo picked up by another outlet. Whether or not that will result in more viewers is another questions entirely. Not serving fans what they want isn't doing much to drive up engagement, instead pushing away potential viewers in droves. We'll keep you posted on the fate of Master Chief on television, but for now it's goodbye to Halo.
