The spooky classic is launching on the perfect day.
Although Japan his been exporting games to the West for decades now, not every release makes it outside of that country's borders. A prime example of that is the cult classic Clock Tower, which launched on Super Famicom in 1995 but never got an official Western localization. That's all about to change in a couple of months when WayForward brings Clock Tower: Rewind to Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5 and 4, Xbox Series X|S, and PC on October 31, 2024. Take a look at some gameplay in this trailer:
And here's a bit more about the game from its official press materials:
Turn back the clock for one of the pioneers of the survival-horror genre. Translated and released outside of Japan for the first time, Clock Tower: Rewind is a revival of the terror-inducing 16-bit classic that dares you to explore the haunting confines of the Barrows family manor. As teenage orphan Jennifer, you must search every disturbing corner to find items, reveal secrets, and discover ways to evade Scissorman, a murderous, unstoppable, shears-wielding psychopath.
As the description above states, Clock Tower features tense cat-and-mouse interactions with the deranged Scissorman. In Clock Tower: Rewind, players can choose to play the original game or switch things up by taking on the enhanced version. In the enhanced iteration, players can expect refinements and gameplay tweaks, making it like an all-new experience.
Besides that, there are other extras such as a gallery, a music player, and even commentary from the developers. All this and more can be yours come Halloween, assuming you're brave enough.
