Terry and Virgil join forces in this new Elseworlds tale.

Here's a crossover that many likely weren't expecting: Static Shock and Batman Beyond. Announced by DC, Batman/Static: Beyond will be hitting comic book shops starting November 12, 2025. The six-issue miniseries will be written by Evan Narcisse and illustrated by Nikolas Draper-Ivey. with covers by Draper-Ivey, Dustin Nguyen, Rahzzah, and a 1:25 incentive variant by Denys Cowan and Ho Che Anderson. The series sees the two heroes joining forces to fight a common threat.
Here's what DC says about the team-up:
In the debut issue, Terry McGinnis patrols the neon-lit streets of Neo-Gotham while Virgil Hawkins pioneers atechnological revolution with the launch of the Q-Wave Energy Grid. As Earth prepares to join a powerful interplanetaryalliance called the Cooperative, the Justice League Beyond stands ready to usher in a new era of peace. But when a mysterious villain triggers a global blackout, the planet’s future hangs in the balance. With technology crippled and chaosrising, Static and Batman Beyond must forge an unlikely alliance and take a grounded approach to saving the world before it’s too late.
Writer Narcisse says that the story stems from what he sees as the looming dangers of humanity's over-reliance on technology in our everyday lives. "We rely on technology to remember for us. That deeply concerns me. I worry that we are getting to a point where if all these things were to be suddenly taken away from us in an instant—at the rate we’re going now, humanity will be at a huge disadvantage."
Less encouragingly, Narcisse mentions "systemic injustice" as part of his description of Static and how Virgil and Terry's "approaches to making the world a safer, more just place are extremely different." Will this book lean into the toxic identity politics that have become so divisive in modern comic books, or will the series instead deliver on the potential of two of DC's most beloved heroes joining forces in a rollicking adventure? Fans will find out in November, but here's hoping it's the latter.
