And it's coming to Nintendo Switch 2, as well.

The latest Call of Duty game has been revealed by Microsoft and Activision, and, well... it's pretty much what fans have come to expect at this point. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 is the name of the latest installment in the franchise. You can see your first look at it in the trailer, below:

Modern Warfare 4 picks things up with a mix of new characters and old. One part of the story is set in South Korea, while the other focuses on Captain Price on the other side of the world. Here's the official synopsis of the campaign:

War erupts on the Korean Peninsula as North Korea launches a full-scale invasion that threatens to destabilize the world in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4. A young squad of South Korean soldiers fights to survive on the collapsing front lines, while half a world away a vengeful Captain Price wages a personal war from the shadows as he stays one step ahead of those hunting him. As Price’s off-book mission collides with the forces behind the invasion, the war spreads beyond anyone’s control.

Modern Warfare 4 will be coming to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Steam, and for the first time in 13 years, the series will be appearing on a Nintendo console when it also lands on Switch 2. This lines up with Microsoft's promise to have the series on a Nintendo console for at least ten years that it made back when the company acquired Activision.

As for the gameplay itself, particularly the online, Microsoft is promising "grounded, precise combat." Whether or not this will result in a meaningful reduction of the much-maligned guest character operators that have plagued the series in recent years remains to be seen.
