The movie is currently sitting at $115 million globally.

Supergirl started off poorly and is likely going to finish its theatrical run as an enormous failure. This is bad news for the burgeoning Jame Gunn-helmed DCU, as following the underperformance of Superman last year, the hope was that Supergirl would be the big hit that DC Studios needed to reclaim some momentum and get fans excited about their superheroes again. Instead, star Milly Alcock lashed out at fans during the press tour for the film and the movie itself underwhelmed with bland CGI, an unlikable lead in Alcock, and a story that few will remember or want to return to. Oh, and Superman's parents are still wanting their son to build a harem and conquer Earth, for what that's worth.
Earning $3.5 million over the weekend, Supergirl only managed to muster up eighth place at the box office, falling behind Obsession, which has been in theaters for over two months at this point. Fans simply aren't interested in the drunken, bleak worldview of Gunn's Kara Zor-El, who spends parts of the film vomiting and soiling herself besides just being unlikeable. Industry mouthpieces like Variety, The Hollywood Reporter, and others, as well as various influencers on YouTube and social media, have been doing their best to point the finger at male moviegoers for Supergirl's failure, which is pretty odd given over half of the film's audience has been men. Worse, critics of the film are being labeled pedophiles, misogynists, and more by deranged online activists.

Gaslighting aside, there's no denying that Supergirl has done nothing to position the DCU in a place of prominence in the eyes of fans. It's not looking good for Gunn, as the studio head and director has yet to captivate the public with a project that puts DC Studios on the map like Disney's Marvel Studios (which itself is in a tenuous state). Attempting to smear and attack fans for having the audacity to want a conventionally attractive, bubbly, likable, authentic take on Supergirl isn't going to translate to sales; in fact, every time Hollywood tries this tactic, it fails. Miserably.
The rumor mill has been asserting that Supergirl will come to premium V.O.D. services starting July 28, 2026. Which would mean that the film barely made it a month at theaters before getting shuttled off. We'll see where Supergirl winds up once all is said and done, but it's looking like it will wind up being one of the biggest superhero movie catastrophes in the history of Hollywood.
