In the wake of the murder of political activist Charlie Kirk, many pop culture personalities have taken to social media to mock and deride the situation. Recently, writer Gretchen Felker-Martin of DC Comics' Red Hood series fired off a series of horrifying posts on Bluesky that resulted in the comic being canceled. Now, video game studio Sucker Punch Productions has allegedly followed suit with the firing of one of its senior developers. Several pop culture pundits pointed out on social media and in videos on YouTube that Drew Harrison, a chief graphics artist for the company helping to develop the upcoming Ghost of Yōtei, is the worker in question. It all began with these posts on Bluesky:

The post reads, "I hope the shooter's name is Mario so that Luigi knows his bro got his back." The response across social media was swift and unhappy, spearheaded by Mark "Grummz" Kern highlighting the posts on his X account:

Following Harrison's comments being highlighted by Kern on X, Harrison appeared to double down on the rhetoric against Kirk, showing no signs of remorse:

It seems that the fervor caused by Harrison's comments was too intense for Sucker Punch to ignore, as the dev claims to have been fired from the company:

Kern and various news outlets have also said that Harrison was fired. Notably, Sucker Punch has not made a public statement about the firing of Harrison, as opposed to DC Comics which at least acknowledged that employee misconduct was involved in the cancellation of Red Hood. Still, as with Felker-Martin, the behavior of Harrison serves as a reminder of the political radicalization that has taken place across the entertainment industry. Harrison isn't alone in celebrating Charlie Kirk's assassination, as many other members of the game development and journalism community have been open and brazen in their glee at the tragedy. It's disturbing, to say the least, and fans are now even calling for a boycott of Ghost of Yōtei over Harrison's posts and Sucker Punch's response. Whether or not this will amount to low sales for the game will have to be seen.
