SGF '26: The Remake Series Closes Out With Final Fantasy VII Revelation in 2027

Square Enix is pulling out all the stops for this one!



The Final Fantasy VII Remake Series (as Square Enix calls it) has been an absolute pleasure thus far. The tight, focused adventure that is Final Fantasy VII Remake (and Intergrade) gave way to Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, a more sprawling epic that is every bit as engaging as its predecessor. Thus, the finale game in this trilogy needs to be huge, and if the trailer shown off during Summer Game Fest is anything to go off of, it will be. Take a look at Final Fantasy VII Revelation:



The trailer does a great job of setting up fans for what's to come in Revelation. Here are the key takeaways:


  • Cid and Vincent: The duo will finally be playable in Revelation, marking the first time that players will get to experience the entire Final Fantasy VII roster all in one game.

  • The Highwind: The iconic airship is the primary means of traversal for the members of AVALANCHE in Revealation. Players will be able to roam the entire game world via the Highwind and parachute down to the surface below in what Square Enix is describing as a "[seamless transition] from air to land."

  • FITS System: Jobs are back! Kinda. With the FITS System, players can equip Cloud and company with new outfits that not only change their looks, but also give them new abilities not unlike the traditional jobs the Final Fantasy series is known for. Get ready to make Aerith into a Dark Mage, or Cloud into a proper Warrior; the possibilities are endless.



Fans also got their first look at the Final Fantasy VII Remake Series' take on Weapons, the enormous creatures that materialize when the planet is in grave danger. Expect some crazy battles in Revelation, whether it's facing off against Weapons, Shinra, or the worst of the bunch, Sephiroth. In Revelation, fans will find the team "in a race against time to stop Meteor, the ultimate destructive magic, and the total obliteration of the planet." Final Fantasy VII Revelation will be coming to Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, XBOX Series X|S, and Steam in the spring of 2027.
