The comic is already funded while issue four is drawn and ready!

The world of crowdfunded comics remains hot, with creators vying for fan attention with various projects catering to all sorts of tastes. Among some of the most popular indie creators out there are writer Dolan Waddick and artist Aurelio Mazzara of Mutant Farm Comics, whose series Unholy Nightmare has been driving fans wild the past couple of years. Edited by fan-favorite creator Aaron Sparrow, Unholy Nightmare centers on the vampire Vlad and a cast of heroic monsters and outcasts. The series is a sublime blend of '90s style action mixed with equal parts horror and superhero drama.

Now, issue three is available for pre-order on Kickstarter. As of this writing, Unholy Nightmare #3 has breached its $3,000 goal with $8,249, but there's still plenty of time before the July 26, 2026 deadline to get in your own reservation. There are a number of different covers available for purchase, including art from Kenneth Rocafort and many other talented artists. You can see a sample of the comic, below:

Here's a synopsis of the issue from the creators:

Our heroic monsters from the previous issues are assembled by the ancient vampire, Vlad. Their mission: to infiltrate The Chicago Field Museum and secure The Tome of Leviathan, an ancient book that holds the key to unimaginable power. The urgency of their quest intensifies as they race against time to prevent the nefarious Dr. Herbert West, The Re-Animator, from acquiring the tome. West, a brilliant but morally dubious scientist, seeks to harness its dark magic to raise an undead army, posing a grave threat to humanity. But can the heroes work together long enough to retrieve it? And could there be a traitor in their midst? The fate of both their world and humanity hangs in the balance!

Aaron Sparrow noted during this past weekend's episode of Comics Aficionados that the fourth issue is already drawn and ready for crowdfunding, with issue five percolating in the background; might as well get up to speed on the series now if you haven't already!
