Metal Slug Tactics was announced back in 2021 as a tactical RPG spin-off of the mainline Metal Slug series. For the past three years, fans have wondered when the game would finally launch... and they're still wondering. Dotemu revealed today that the game has a nebulous "later this year" release window, but not much beyond that.
While it sucks to remain in the dark, fans were given a little something to tide them over: a new video where original Metal Slug developers and some of the crew at Leikir Studio sit down and talk about the past and impending future of the series. Check out Metal Slug Tactics – The Legacy:
I'm a huge fan of the history of the video game industry, so seeing stuff like this is a real treat, as far as I'm concerned. Too often the people making the games are treated like faceless worker bees, but for rare exceptions when it comes to designers like Shigeru Miyamoto, Sid Meier, and so on. Definitely check it out if you'd like to learn more about Metal Slug's origins and what to expect from Metal Slug Tactics. And once we have a release date pegged down, we'll be sure to let you know.
Metal Slug Tactics will launch on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4 and 5, Xbox One and Series X|S, and PC.
