The clock is ticking on the writer's popular run.
Robert Kirkman's Skybound imprint has been generating a lot of positive buzz among fans thanks to its incredibly popular Energon Universe comics. At the top of the must-read least for most fans is writer Daniel Warren Johnson's Transformers series. However, while most people are enjoying the book, there lingers in the background the question of when the writer will move on to other projects. Now, they have an answer: issue 24.
Johnson answered the question himself during a Reddit AMA session:
Thanks so much to you both! I'm having a blast writing it now and Jorge and Mike are absolutely slaying the art. I am going to be writing for a total of 24 issues. Thanks again!
The series is currently on issue 11 as of this month, so fans are almost halfway through Johnson's run. When asked if he could extend the run much further than 24 issues to something closer to 50 (or even 100!), Warren said this:
Honestly, I'm having so much fun I would love to. But when I make anything, writing, drawing, or both, I only know how to go 110 percent. So all that to say, I'm killing myself and can only go for so long, My choice to leave at 24 is more of a choice for my mental health and for my family than however I may feel about my wonderful Cybertronians. Thank you for your support!
So, if you're a fan of Transformers, better enjoy the ride while it lasts, because there's a little more than 12 issues to go. It will likely continue on after Johnson departs, but it won't quite be the same in the eyes of fans after that.
