Eight classic fighters are on the way, but apparently there will be considerable censorship.
Capcom is certainly doing its best to keep the fighting game community busy. Besides the release of Marvel vs Capcom Fighting Collection: Arcade Classics next month, in 2025 there's another blockbuster compilation on the way: Capcom Fighting Collection 2. Let's take a look at it in this handy new trailer:
Here are all of the games being included:
Capcom vs. SNK: Millennium Fight 2000 Pro
Capcom vs. SNK 2: Mark of the Millennium 2001
Capcom Fighting Evolution
Street Fighter Alpha 3 UPPER
Project Justice
Power Stone
Power Stone 2
Plasma Sword: Nightmare of Bilstein
Not all is well when it comes to this announcement, however, as apparently there will be multiple instances of censorship throughout, including background images and character animations. If you head to the game's official website and search by game, it gives vague descriptions of what has been altered. This included things like "Removed some character transformations from Demitri's Midnight Bliss" for Capcom Fighting Evolution, for instance. As ever, these changes are likely due to the sensitivities of the so-called modern audience, which tends to result in the over-sanitization of content.
It's distasteful and insulting, but unfortunately not enough fans are speaking up about it. Regardless, there are good things to look forward to here, including quality of life tweaks, rollback netcode, a Gallery mode, and more. Capcom Fighting Collection 2 comes to Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and Steam in 2025.
