XBOX is included among the workers being extended these deals.

Anyone ever been voluntarily laid off before? Because that's basically what's happening to up to 60,000 workers across the whole of Microsoft. The company is offering time-limited Voluntary Exit Offers (VEO) to eligible staff in impacted teams in the United Stes, UK, Canada, and India. The VEO situation was laid out in a memo from EVP chief people officer Amy Coleman.

Here's what Coleman has to say about the VEOs:

The Voluntary Exit Offer is new for us. We'll learn from it. At the same time, we'll keep helping people focus on the work that matters most, build new skills and, where it makes sense, find new opportunities across Microsoft. There is no one-size-fits-all approach for every team or every employee.
These are a few of the ways we're trying to meet different business needs while continuing to create opportunities for our own people to grow and contribute.

This comes after multiple layoffs in recent times for the company, including staff reductions at XBOX. As companies continue to expand AI into their operations (something Microsoft is helping lead the way on developing), more and more human laborers are being cut in favor of using technology to save costs. The federal government is offering little by way of protection from this practice and, thus, it's unlikely that these layoffs will be ending anytime soon.

We'll keep you posted as we learn more.
