The Xbox-branded handheld is nearly here.

Microsoft and ROG delighted fans with the reveal of an official Xbox version of the ROG Ally being on the way. There are two iterations of the handheld, the ROG Xbox Ally and the ROG Xbox Ally X, with the former providing 720p gaming and the latter 1080p. Or to put it another way, the X is the premium version of the hardware compared to the standard Xbox Ally. Fans have naturally been wondering when the ROG Xbox Ally and Ally X would be available for sale, and now we know: October 16, 2025.

The other question on the minds of consumers is how much are these things going to cost? There's no official announcement just yet, but the rumor mill has an idea and it's, well expensive. ROG Xbox Ally will clock in at $499.99, while ROG Xbox Ally X has an eye-watering MSRP of $899.99. Ouch.

Microsoft isn't quite ready to divulge pricing details and says the following instead:

Stay tuned for more details about pricing and pre-orders in the coming weeks. We can’t wait for players around the world to experience this new way to play with Xbox.

The $499.99 for the standard ROG Xbox Ally isn't too far off the mark of a Nintendo Switch 2 (which has a baseline MSRP of $449.99), but the $899.99 asking price for the X is something to behold. Even the most premium OLED model of Valve's Steam Deck isn't that expensive with an MSRP of $649 (and that's with 1TB of memory, no less). Will consumers be willing to dish out nearly a thousand dollars for handheld Xbox gaming? We'll find out together this October.
