It's available now for select Xbox Insiders!

Asha Sharma, the new CEO of Xbox, has been busy. Not only has she been in deep discussions with her team about the future of Xbox, including the upcoming Project Helix console, she's also thinking about the here and now. That includes the current crop of home consoles, namely Xbox Series X|S. It's a small move, but one in line with the "back to basics" approach that Sharma seems to be going for: a new and improved console startup animation!

Alright, it's not the biggest deal in the world, but still, it's the little details that matter, and this is honestly the sort of thing that people will remember as time goes by a heck of a lot more than some boring AI assistant no one asked for. Look no further than the enduring legacy of the GameCube startup animation and music if you're brimming with doubt, dear readers.

Alongside the startup animation, Xbox is also introducing tiered Gamerscore badges. The badge reflects all of your time building up your score, which in the case of some players is years and years. As time goes by and the Gamerscore goes up, the badge will evolve. Finally, the game library will be seeing an update that allows users to filter their games with more control than ever. Select Xbox Insiders members will already have access to these new features, which will eventually come to all Xbox users.
