He'll move into the role this April.

Changes are afoot at Sony Interactive Entertainment. Hideaki Noshino will be taking over the sole role of CEO for SIE starting April 1, 2025. This means that his current co-CEO, Herman Hulst, will be moving on to a new position with the company, overseeing PlayStation's first-party teams and developing IPs across other mediums. While these are duties that Hulst was already performing, he will now be answering directly to Noshino moving forward.

Nishino had the following to say about the shift:

We will continue to grow the PlayStation community in new ways, such as IP expansion, while also delivering the best technology innovation.
I want to thank Hermen for his expertise and leadership as he continues his role as studio business group CEO. I am deeply grateful for the PlayStation community and their continued support and I am very excited for what the future holds.

Many have speculated as to why this change was necessary, with some believing that Nishino might move to reposition PlayStation's game development away from the current Western-focused content that has been the company's concentration for some time now.
