Hellboy: The Crooked Man Director views Film As "A Horror Story"

Director Brian Taylor drew inspiration from writer Stephen King.

Hellboy is getting a third reboot this September. Dubbed Hellboy: The Crooked Man, this version of the character will be portrayed by actor Jack Kesy and focuses on a town in 1950s rural Appalachia. There, Hellboy and a rookie BPRD agent discover a small community haunted by witches, and led by the nominal Crooked Man. The first trailer debuted in July to mixed reactions from fans, but director Brian Taylor at least seems to be giving the movie his all.

In an exclusive interview with GamesRadar+, Taylor said that he hopes to deliver a more personal "folk horror story" than any of the trio of preceding films have ever delivered. Taylor likens his approach to filming The Crooked Man to how he would handle adapting a Stephen King novel. "It's all there in the texts," said Taylor, who went on to emphasize that "I'm just gonna execute it with as much love and care as we can."

Hellboy: The Crooked Man comes to theaters this fall.
