Respawn Entertainment has been hit hard, as well.

Stop me if you've heard this one, but there have been more layoffs in the video game industry. These cuts come courtesy of EA, which saw fit to release nearly 300 workers between itself and subsidiary Respawn Entertainment. The woes for EA date back to January of this year when the company reported that sales were down for perennial sellers like Football Club (formerly FIFA) and the abortive Dragon Age: The Veilguard. Now, it seems that a diminished stock price has come back to haunt the company's workers.
EA has let go of 200 personnel, with most cuts impacting EA Experience team members. EA Experience is a more marketing/customer service-focused division of the company. That said, some cuts to game development have also been made, with workers from the Star Wars: Jedi and Apex Legends teams let go. Respawn, meanwhile, had 100 workers released and two games in early development canceled. Here's a statement from Respawn that was posted to its official X account:
Overall, it's another bleak point for the industry as turmoil remains the norm. EA, in particular, has been struggling. It was earlier this year when the company restructured BioWare following the abysmal sales of Veilguard. In March of last year, 670 workers were let go, as well. When will things get better for the gaming giant? We'll keep you posted.
