The Crow Bombed at the Weekend Box Office

The Bill Skarsgård vehicle was dead on arrival at the cinema.

Tough times for Lionsgate as its second consecutive box office bomb has detonated in theaters (remember Borderlands?). Releasing last Friday, The Crow, starring Bill Skarsgård as the nominal antihero, was not well received by critics and fans, alike. For what it's worth, Rotten Tomatoes has the film at a Critics score of 13%, while the All Audience score rests at 57%. Miscast actors and a poor story tend to be the reason for most viewer's disdain.

The Crow had a budget somewhere in the neighborhood of $50 million, but only brought in $4.6 million over the weekend across more than 2,000 screens nationwide. Needless to say, it seems that The Crow's return will be a brief and unmemorable one.
