The heroes of DC Comics and Sonic the Hedgehog in a crossover for the ages.
Here's the latest entry on your bingo card of things you weren't expecting to see: DC Comics and Sonic the Hedgehog are crossing over. Fans got a tease of this on Batman Day over the weekend when the following video was shown off on social media:
Pretty cool, eh? Batman with a dash of Sonic (well, Shadow, but you get the idea). Well, apparently someone at Warner Bros. and SEGA thought this was a surefire way to drive fans wild and decided to turn this short into an entire multimedia initiative. Things will kick off with a limited series come 2025 dubbed DC x Sonic where the Justice League will be teaming up with the Blue Blur's friends and allies. Except, they're not just teaming up—they're combining together.
The lineup breaks down as follows:
Shadow the Hedgehog—Batman
Sonic the Hedgehog—The Flash
Amy Rose—Wonder Woman
Knuckles the Echidna—Superman
Miles Tails Prower—Cyborg
Silver the Hedgehog—Green Lantern
Being completely honest, I was won over the instant this was announced. IDW's Sonic the Hedgehog series is a blast (that you should totally be reading), so seeing a comic where it's Sonic merging with the heroes of the Justice League (especially after the Batman Day video) seems like it's got a ton of potential to be fun.
But wait, there's more!
Along with the comic, WB and SEGA say to look forward to apparel, toys, collectibles, and more based on this crossover are in the pipeline. Keep your eyes peeled for more details as we learn them.
